JD for Postharvest Executive
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/ Postharvest Technology/ Horticulture/ Agribiotech background with preference to Postharvest Technology and Horticulture
Work Experience:
Minimum 1.5 years in Postharvest Management.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide training on best management practices for post-harvest handling and storage, to minimize losses arising from disease and damage;
- Evaluate the preferred storage facility and make recommendations for any improvements to conform to best management practices;
- Provide training on best cold storage practices including pre-storage and post storage.
- Provide training in best practices to farmers for the stages of a whole post-harvest system including but not limited to: pre-processing, transportation, storage, processing and packaging according to the necessary quality of their target market.
- Demonstrate capability to observe, recognize, and report any misconduct of cold room operation practice or sanitation or quality issues.
- This particular job entails traveling to customer locations and web meetings both.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Formal qualifications in postharvest technology with bias in fruit and vegetables are desirable;
- Good knowledge of post-harvest handling of flowers is also desirable;
- Knowledge of storage techniques in developing countries;
- Wide experience in working with commercial fruit farmers and knowledge on farming;
- Knowledge and experience in using basic equipment required for quality control and grading of fruit;
- Good writing and analytical skills, including good interpersonal communication;
- Working proficiency on Google Workspace (Docs, Slides and Sheets) and/or Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Fluency in English and Hindi required;
